Rome, 22 August (LaPresse) – ‘The IPC report is an absolute lie. Israel does not have a policy of starvation. Israel has a policy of preventing starvation.’ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a post on X, commenting on the UN report, which officially declared a state of famine in Gaza. The situation is ‘catastrophic’ for 500,000 people in the Strip, 132,000 of whom are children. ‘Since the start of the war, Israel has allowed 2 million tonnes of aid into the Gaza Strip, over a tonne of aid per person,’ the prime minister added, stating that Israel ‘will continue to act responsibly, ensuring that aid reaches Gaza's civilians while destroying Hamas's terror machine.’ The “starvation campaign” orchestrated by Hamas will not prevent us from freeing our hostages and eliminating Hamas,‘ Netanyahu said, adding that the ’civilised world‘ must “demand” two things: ’the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and the truth."
