Rome, August 19 (LaPresse) – Yuri Ushakov, advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin, confirmed that "half an hour ago, at the initiative of the President of the United States, a phone conversation took place between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin," he told journalists.
The conversation – he added – was "sincere and very constructive" and lasted "about 40 minutes."
"It is significant that Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump agreed to continue maintaining close contacts on Ukrainian issues and other urgent matters on the international and bilateral agenda," Ushakov said, adding that Vladimir Putin "once again emphasized the importance of the efforts personally made by Donald Trump to find solutions that lead to a long-term resolution in Ukraine."
