Milan, 16 August (LaPresse) – "United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres reiterates his call for an immediate, complete and unconditional ceasefire as a first step towards a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace in Ukraine, fully respecting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders, in accordance with the UN Charter, international law and relevant UN resolutions. The United Nations stands ready to support all meaningful efforts in this direction." This was reported to the Russian news agency Tass by the official representative of the Secretary-General of the world organisation, Stephane Dujarric.
