Milan, 16 August (LaPresse) – ‘We all agree that it is essential to continue supporting Ukraine and putting pressure on Russia as long as its war of aggression continues and a solid and lasting peace that respects Ukraine's rights has not been achieved.’ This is what French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on social media after this morning's meeting with other EU leaders, Trump and Zelensky on the summit in Alaska. ‘Any lasting peace must be accompanied by unconditional security guarantees,’ Macron added. "In this regard, I appreciate the United States' willingness to contribute to this end. We will work with them and with all our partners in the Coalition of the Voluntary, with whom we will meet again shortly, to make concrete progress. It will also be essential to draw all the lessons of the last 30 years, in particular Russia's proven propensity not to respect its commitments.‘ ’We will continue to work closely with President Trump and President Zelensky to ensure that our interests are safeguarded in a spirit of unity and responsibility,‘ Macron concluded. ’France remains resolutely at Ukraine's side."
