Rome, August 14 (LaPresse) – "In the search for an alternative to victory, this idea has emerged: what they call a ‘political solution,’ which is nothing more than another term for defeat and surrender. This will not happen. It won’t." This is what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during the opening speech at an event hosted by the news outlet Newsmax in Jerusalem.
Netanyahu stated that over the years, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have "systematically" abandoned their commitment to "victory," claiming some former senior military officers have yielded to global pressure and embraced political solutions inadequate for military success.
"We have achieved great victories… against Hamas, against Hezbollah, against Assad’s murderous regime in Syria, against Iran, and in other arenas as well," Netanyahu said. "We did it because we fought together… the IDF, Mossad, and Shin Bet — each in their field, each in their sector, and in close cooperation — have done extraordinary work under the leadership of the political leadership."
Netanyahu then addressed "former officials who once led Israel’s security branches," without naming them, recalling that he served or worked with many of them during his 18 years as prime minister and held "great appreciation" for their courage and sacrifice.
