Frankfurt (Germany), August 13 (LaPresse) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked international partners for their support, naming Donald Trump, Ursula von der Leyen, Emmanuel Macron, and Giorgia Meloni. During a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, he highlighted the intensification of diplomatic efforts since last week and the shared goal among global leaders: peace in Europe and the world.
Zelensky reiterated that Russia must have no say in Ukraine's future within Europe or NATO, and called for increased sanctions if Moscow refuses a ceasefire. He accused Vladimir Putin of not wanting peace, but instead seeking full occupation of Ukraine, urging "pressure, pressure, pressure" from the international community to stop the war.
Zelensky also mentioned the upcoming summit between Trump and Putin in Alaska, expressing hope it could lead to an immediate ceasefire. He announced a forthcoming meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” reaffirming Ukraine's continued push for peace.
