Rome, August 13 (LaPresse) – Speaking upon his arrival in Castel Gandolfo, Pope Leo XIV commented on the situation in Ukraine: “It seems there was just a video call with several European leaders, but I am always seeking a ceasefire. This violence and all these deaths must stop. Let’s see how an agreement can be reached, because after so much time, what is this war really achieving? What is the goal? We must always seek dialogue and diplomatic efforts, not violence, not weapons.”

The Pope also expressed deep concern for the situation in Gaza: “I am very worried about the humanitarian crisis. We cannot go on like this. We recognize the violence of terrorism and respect all those who have died—yes, the hostages must be freed—but also so many people are truly starving. That, too, must be seen.”
