Rome, August 13 (LaPresse) – The Chief of Staff of the IDF, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, has approved the main outlines of the upcoming military offensive to capture Gaza City. The Israeli armed forces stated that the "main concept of the IDF’s offensive plan in Gaza" was discussed during a meeting Zamir held this morning with the General Staff Forum, alongside other officers and representatives of the Shin Bet. It was further explained that "the main concept of the plan for the next steps in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with the directives of the political leadership," was presented and approved. This refers to the offensive ordered by the government against Hamas in Gaza City, although it is not expected to start immediately. During the meeting, Zamir emphasized the importance of improving the readiness of the forces and preparation for the reserve call-up, while also conducting refresher courses and giving soldiers some respite ahead of upcoming missions.
