Frankfurt (Germany), 11 August (LaPresse) – Germany organised a video conference of European heads of state and government on Ukraine on Wednesday. The meeting will serve as preparation for talks with US President Donald Trump, announced German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and representatives of the EU and NATO will also take part in the talks with Trump. Merz, according to a statement, invited participants to virtual talks on Wednesday 13 August on the current situation in Ukraine, ahead of the planned meeting between US President Trump and Russian President Putin. The talks will address, among other things, further options for putting pressure on Russia. In addition, the preparation of possible peace negotiations and related issues of territorial claims and security will be discussed. The heads of state and government of Germany, Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Ukraine, the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Council, the Secretary General of NATO, as well as the President of the United States and his deputy will participate in roundtable discussions of varying composition, the German government statement concludes.
