Rome, August 9 (LaPresse) – The Foreign Ministers of Italy, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement in which they "strongly rejected the decision of the Israeli Security Cabinet on August 8 to launch a further large-scale military operation in Gaza."
"This will worsen the catastrophic humanitarian situation, endanger the lives of hostages, and increase the risk of mass civilian displacement," said the ministers of the five countries, including Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani.
"The plans announced by the Israeli government risk violating international humanitarian law. Any attempt at annexation or expansion of settlements is a violation of international law," they added.
