Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Aug. 6. (LaPresse/AP) – Electoral authorities in Bosnia have removed Milorad Dodik, the Bosnian Serb separatist leader, from his position as president of Republika Srpska, the Serb entity in Bosnia, following an appeal court ruling sentencing him to one year in prison and a six-year ban from political activity. The Central Election Commission said Dodik has the right to appeal, and that early presidential elections will be held within 90 days of the decision. The last presidential election in the Serbian entity of Bosnia was held in 2022. Dodik's mandate was revoked because he was sentenced to one year in prison and six years of disqualification from public office.
