Milan, 27 July (LaPresse/AP) – Russia has scaled back celebrations for its Navy, cancelling naval parades initially planned for today in St Petersburg and the eastern port of Vladivostok, citing security reasons, as continued Ukrainian drone attacks pose a challenge to the Kremlin. The parades are usually held during the annual Navy Day celebrations. When asked about the reason for cancelling the parade in St. Petersburg, despite the arrival of President Vladimir Putin in his hometown to visit the Navy headquarters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov replied that the decision was made for ‘security reasons, which are above all else.’ The Russian Defence Ministry said that during the night, air defences shot down 99 Ukrainian drones in several regions. Authorities later reported that more drones were shot down near St. Petersburg. According to local authorities, a woman was injured by drone debris in the Lomonosov region.
