Rome, July 27 (LaPresse) – The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced overnight via a message on Telegram that they have "carried out an airdrop of humanitarian aid as part of ongoing efforts to enable and facilitate the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip."
"The drop, conducted in coordination with international organizations and led by the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), included seven aid packages containing flour, sugar, and canned food."
In a subsequent message, the IDF explained that "in accordance with the directives of the political establishment and as part of the IDF's ongoing commitment, led by COGAT, to increase the volume of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip, a local tactical ceasefire of military activities for humanitarian purposes will be implemented from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., starting today. The pause will begin in areas where the IDF is not operating: Al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City, every day until further notice. This decision was coordinated with the UN and international organizations following discussions."
"Furthermore," the post continues, "from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., designated safe routes will be established to allow the safe passage of United Nations convoys and humanitarian organizations delivering and distributing food and medicine to the population throughout the Gaza Strip. The IDF will continue to support humanitarian efforts alongside ongoing maneuvers and offensive operations against terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip to protect Israeli civilians. The IDF is prepared to expand the scope of this activity if necessary," the message concludes.
