Milan, July 18 (LaPresse) – According to law enforcement sources cited by the Los Angeles Times, at least three officers were killed in an explosion at the Biscailuz Training Center of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in the United States. The blast occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. local time (4:30 p.m. in Italy) at the Eastern Avenue facility, which houses the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau and the arson and bomb squad.
Authorities are investigating, but the cause of the explosion is not yet clear. Times sources reported that a bomb squad team was moving explosives at the time of the detonation. Bomb technicians responded to secure other potential explosives, and the surrounding area was evacuated.
Officials covered the explosion site with a large tarp. About 25 meters from the building, the windows of a police SUV were shattered by the blast.
