Ukraine, Berlin: ‘Preparations underway with the United States for the delivery of two Patriot missiles to Kiev’

Frankfurt (Germany), July 15 (LaPresse) – Germany and the United States are jointly preparing to deliver two additional Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, valued at around two billion euros. Germany will finance the delivery. However, final technical, logistical, and financial details still need to be clarified. This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius after a meeting with his U.S. counterpart Pete Hegseth in Washington.

The details “seem solvable for both sides, so we will get to work quickly,” Pistorius said. The German minister also explained that the contribution of the United States remains “indispensable for our collective security.” He reiterated that Germany is “ready to take on greater responsibility for Europe’s deterrence and defense.”

“Germany will continue to play a leading and reliable role in the Alliance,” Pistorius added, referring to the NATO summit decision in The Hague to invest five percent of GDP in broader defense. According to the Budget Planning Commission, Germany is already set to spend 3.5 percent of its GDP on defense by 2029, Pistorius added.
