Middle East: Netanyahu summons Smotrich and Ben Gvir to discuss truce agreement

Rome, July 12 (LaPresse) – According to Israeli public broadcaster Kan, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich have been summoned to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as part of ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement with Hamas and secure the release of hostages.

The two far-right ministers have opposed previous ceasefire deals, claiming that they hindered other potential agreements from being realized. Ben Gvir and Smotrich have also threatened to bring down the government if a deal is reached that would end the war while leaving Hamas in power.
