Milan, July 10 (LaPresse) – During a meeting held today on the sidelines of ASEAN in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had “a substantial and frank exchange of views on the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis, the situation in Iran and Syria, as well as a range of other international issues.” This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, referring to "an in-depth discussion on all items on the bilateral agenda and on the global situation."

"It was confirmed that both sides are committed to finding peaceful solutions to conflict situations, to restoring Russian-American economic and humanitarian cooperation, and to ensuring unhindered contacts between the societies of the two countries. These efforts could be facilitated, in particular, by the resumption of direct air links. The importance of continuing work to normalize the functioning of bilateral diplomatic missions was also emphasized," the Russian Foreign Ministry added, assuring that "a constructive and mutually respectful dialogue will continue between the foreign ministries of Russia and the United States on an increasingly wide range of issues of mutual interest."
