Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), 10 July (LaPresse/AP) – The United States and Russia have exchanged new ideas for peace talks in Ukraine. This was reported by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the end of his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ‘I think it's a new and different approach,’ Rubio told reporters after the Lavrov talks. ‘I wouldn't call it something that guarantees peace, but it's a concept that, as you know, I will report to the president,’ he added without providing further details. Rubio said that US President Donald Trump is ‘disappointed and frustrated that there has not been more flexibility on the Russian side to end this conflict.’ ‘We hope that the situation can change, and we will continue to remain engaged where we see opportunities to make a difference,’ the US chief diplomat said.
