Brussels, 9 July (LaPresse) – ‘The EU remains fully committed to achieving this outcome in order to ensure stability and predictability for our economic operators, traders and consumers. The United States has postponed the deadline for finalising agreements with partner countries to 1 August. However, we are aiming to reach an agreement earlier, potentially even in the coming days.’ This was reported by European Commission spokesperson Olof Gill in his daily press briefing. ‘We have demonstrated our willingness to reach an agreement in principle, and the Commission has consulted closely with our Member States and industry to ensure a high degree of cohesion in our overall EU approach. We count on the United States to remain committed to this,’ he added. Reaching an agreement now depends on the willingness to find a solution that is acceptable to both sides. As President von der Leyen said this morning, we will be resolute, but we prefer a negotiated solution. We remain committed to our principles, defend our interests, continue our work in good faith and prepare for all scenarios," he concluded.
