Milan, 9 July (LaPresse) – According to an audio recording provided to CNN, last year US President Donald Trump said during a private meeting for his second presidential campaign that he had once tried to dissuade Russian President Vladimir Putin from attacking Ukraine by threatening to ‘bomb Moscow’. ‘With Putin, I said, “If you go into Ukraine, I'll totally bomb Moscow. I'm telling you, I have no choice,”’ Trump said during a 2024 fundraiser, ‘and then Putin said, “I don't believe you.” But he believed me 100%.’ Trump then claimed to have issued a similar warning to Chinese President Xi Jinping about a possible invasion of Taiwan, telling him that the United States would respond by bombing Beijing. ‘He thought I was crazy,’ Trump said of Xi, before emphasising that ‘we've never had any problems.’
