Rome, 5 July (LaPresse) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes that US influence on Israel in the context of a possible 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is of decisive importance. "Thanks to Trump's initiatives, a 60-day plan for a temporary ceasefire is now on the agenda. The influence of the United States on Israel will be decisive in this context. At this stage, it is very important that Western countries, particularly the United States, increase pressure on Israel to reach a ceasefire. We also believe that the ceasefire between Iran and Israel has opened a window of opportunity for Gaza,‘ Erdogan said, as quoted by the Anadolu Agency. Erdogan noted that ’Hamas has repeatedly demonstrated its goodwill in this matter, but due to Israel's violations of the ceasefire, calm in the region has not been restored.‘ ’We are working to prevent this from happening again. We must establish a ceasefire that Israel fully respects. To do this, we must create a solid negotiating platform and, above all, resolve the issue of guarantees," the Turkish president added.
