Cairo (Egypt), July 2 (LaPresse) – Hamas is open to a ceasefire agreement with Israel, but any deal must lead to a complete end to the war in Gaza. This position was stated by group official Taher al-Nunu, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent announcement of a proposal, which he said Israel has accepted and urged Hamas to do the same. Hamas is “ready and serious about reaching an agreement,” said al-Nunu, adding that the group is “willing to accept any initiative that clearly leads to a complete end to the war.” While Hamas has shown openness to a deal, it has not explicitly accepted Trump’s proposal. The U.S. president is increasing pressure on both the Israeli government and Hamas to reach a ceasefire and hostage agreement.
