Washington (USA), July 1 (LaPresse) – The Senate has approved the 'Big Beautiful Bill,' the tax and spending legislation that includes all of President Trump’s domestic policy priorities. The decisive vote came from Vice President JD Vance, who broke the 50-50 tie caused by some Republican dissenters voting no. Republican senators Susan Collins of Maine, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Thom Tillis of North Carolina joined the Democrats in opposing the bill. Besides extending the tax cuts enacted by Trump in 2017, the law includes scaled-down versions of the president’s key priorities, such as stopping taxation on tips, while revising social security programs and providing new funding for border control with Mexico, anti-illegal immigration policies, and the Pentagon. The bill also raises the federal debt ceiling by $5 trillion. The measure now returns to the House of Representatives and, as Trump hopes, could reach his desk for signing by July 4.
