Milan, June 30 (LaPresse) – A group of Israeli settlers staged a violent protest overnight in front of an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) base in the West Bank. According to the IDF, some of the demonstrators attacked security forces, sprayed tear gas, and vandalized IDF vehicles. Soldiers and police were deployed to disperse them. The Times of Israel reports that the IDF later stated that settlers also set fire overnight to a security facility worth several million shekels, used to "prevent terrorist attacks and maintain security" in the Ramallah area of the West Bank. The army added that the damage to the site "poses a danger to the safety of residents." "The IDF condemns any act of violence against security forces and expects the Israeli authorities to bring to justice civilians who harm security personnel performing their duty to protect Israeli citizens," the IDF said.
