Cape Canaveral (Florida, USA), June 25 (LaPresse) – SpaceX’s Falcon rocket has launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center toward the International Space Station. On board are three astronauts from India, Poland, and Hungary. They are the first astronauts from these countries to go to space in the last 40 years: Shubhanshu Shukla, an Indian Air Force pilot; Hungarian mechanical engineer Tibor Kapu; and Polish radiation expert Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski, a member of the European Space Agency’s astronaut project who occasionally takes on temporary missions.
Also aboard the rocket is America’s most experienced astronaut, Peggy Whitson. The crew is expected to arrive at the orbiting lab tomorrow morning. In addition to dozens of experiments, the three astronauts have brought along food celebrating their cultures: Indian curry with mango nectar rice, spicy Hungarian paprika pasta, and frozen fried Polish pierogi.
