The Hague (Netherlands), 24 June (LaPresse) – "I cannot reveal anything before the summit statement, but we can be sure that the summit statement will contain important references to Ukraine and support for Ukraine, including financial support, in the future. And this is important because what we have witnessed in the last two weeks is unacceptable." These are the words of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the NATO summit in The Hague, with whom he held a brief press conference. ‘Russia,’ he added, ‘began a totally unprovoked war against Ukraine three and a half years ago, a real assault. They started in 2014’ and then moved on to "a full-scale assault starting in February 2022. In the last two weeks, these indiscriminate attacks against innocent civilians living in cities and communities in Ukraine who are trying to get on with their daily lives are being killed or seriously injured by these Russian drones, and this is terrible. So everyone is very motivated. I hear from all our allies that we must remain strong and bring this war to a stable and lasting peace."
