Turin, 22 June (LaPresse) – ‘The insecurity in the region is the direct result of the conspiracies of the United States and the Zionist regime. Iran's action against the Zionist regime is legitimate self-defence against the aggression of an usurping and illegal regime against our territory.’ This was stated by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in a conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Tasnim news agency reported the statement. ‘We have never started a war and we want peace and stability in the region, but the aggressive actions of the other side show that international norms offer no real guarantee to protect the rights of nations,’ he explained. ‘For this reason, Iran will respond harshly, firmly and in such a way as to make those who attacked us regret it.’ ‘What the world is witnessing today is a worrying and unacceptable process, in which a country operating in full compliance with international norms and obligations – particularly under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency – is being directly and openly attacked by the United States and the Zionist regime,’ he added. ‘This shows that all their statements about peace, democracy, human rights and respect for international rules are nothing more than slogans and propaganda tools to deceive public opinion.’
