Middle East: Gaza, 45 Palestinians killed while waiting for aid

Khan Younis, June 17 (LaPresse) – At least 45 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip while waiting for the arrival of UN and commercial trucks carrying essential food aid. This was reported by Gaza's Health Ministry and a local hospital, though the circumstances of the killings remain unclear at this time.

Palestinians have said that since the aid distribution system changed last month and new distribution centers were opened, Israeli forces have repeatedly opened fire on crowds waiting for food. Local health officials report that dozens of people have been killed and hundreds wounded.

In all these incidents, the Israeli military has admitted to opening fire but stated that they were warning shots aimed at people who, according to them, had approached soldiers in a suspicious manner.
