Frankfurt (Germany), 17 June (LaPresse) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has expressed his respect for Israel's attack on Iran, considering it a service rendered to its Western allies. ‘This is the dirty work that Israel is doing for all of us,’ Merz said in an interview with ZDF on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada, stressing that Germany is also affected by the Tehran regime. The leadership in Tehran ‘has brought death and destruction to the world with attacks, murders and massacres, with Hezbollah and Hamas,’ said the chancellor, according to whom the Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October 2023 ‘would never have been possible without the regime in Tehran.’ ‘I can only say that I have the utmost respect for the fact that the Israeli army and government had the courage to do this,’ Merz continued, pointing out that ‘otherwise we could have witnessed the terror of this regime for months and years, and then perhaps with a nuclear weapon in its hands.’
