Turin, 17 June (LaPresse) – Israeli raids have ‘significantly’ but not completely reduced Iran's nuclear enrichment capabilities. This was stated to CNN by the director of the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi. The IAEA chief reported that the attacks damaged several nuclear sites, with Natanz being the most affected. The surface enrichment plant, he explained, was “completely destroyed”, while electrical installations were also “put out of action”, causing the underground centrifuges to malfunction. Three or four buildings at the Isfahan nuclear site also suffered “considerable” damage, but it appears that the underground structures were not affected. According to Grossi, the Fordow enrichment site, on the other hand, did not suffer any serious damage other than “perimeter impacts”. When asked how long it would theoretically take Iran to develop a nuclear weapon, Grossi replied that it would not be a matter of days, but not years either. ‘I would like to be more serious about this. I don't think it would have been a matter of years. But these are just speculations,’ he said.
