Iran, Netanyahu does not rule out killing Khamenei

Milan, June 16 (LaPresse) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview with ABC News, did not rule out the possibility of targeting and killing Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Netanyahu stated that targeting Khamenei would not lead to an escalation but would instead end the war that began on Friday between Israel and Iran.
When asked about reports that U.S. President Donald Trump had previously rejected an Israeli plan to assassinate Khamenei, fearing it could escalate the conflict, Netanyahu replied: "It won’t escalate the conflict; it will end it."
Pressed further on whether Israel will indeed target Iran’s Supreme Leader, Netanyahu said that Israel is "doing what we have to do."
"We’ve lived through half a century of conflict caused by this regime, which terrorizes everyone in the Middle East, bombed the Aramco oil fields in Saudi Arabia, and is spreading terrorism, subversion, and sabotage everywhere," Netanyahu stated.
"The ‘eternal war’ is what Iran wants, and it is bringing us to the brink of nuclear war. In reality, what Israel is doing is preventing this from happening, ending this aggression—and we can only do so by standing up to the forces of evil," he added.
