New Delhi, June 13 (LaPresse) – India’s civil aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has ordered enhanced safety inspections of Air India’s Boeing 787-8/9 fleet following yesterday’s plane crash in Ahmedabad that resulted in the deaths of 241 people on board. Specifically, as a preventive measure, the DGCA has instructed Air India to carry out additional maintenance on aircraft equipped with Genx engines, effective immediately, in coordination with relevant regional DGCA offices, ANI reports. Air India has been directed to perform one-time checks before flight departures starting Sunday. These checks include inspection of fuel parameter monitoring and related systems; cabin air compressor and associated systems; electronic engine control system test; operational test of the fuel-operated engine actuator and lubrication system check; hydraulic system functionality check; and review of takeoff parameters. Additionally, Air India has been asked to implement a “Flight Control Inspection” during transit checks until further notice.
