Valletta (Malta), 11 June (LaPresse) – Two men have been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of complicity in the murder of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. Jamie Vella and Robert Agius were accused of procuring the bomb that killed the reporter. They received the maximum possible sentence after being found guilty of the charges last week. Caruana Galizia, 53, was killed on 16 October 2017 by a car bomb that exploded while she was driving her car near her home. The journalist had written extensively about suspected corruption in Malta's political and business circles. Her murder shocked Europe and sparked violent protests on the island. At the time of her death, she was involved in more than 40 defamation cases.
