Milan, 5 June (LaPresse) – One of the Ukrainian firefighters who rushed to the scene of the Russian attack in the town of Pryluky, in the Chernihiv region, discovered that he had lost his wife, daughter and one-year-old grandson in the raid. “Three generations… there are no words that can ease this pain,” said the Ukrainian National Police in a statement announcing the death of Daryna Shygyda, the firefighter's daughter, who was a police officer on duty. 'She was strong, bright and sincere. She was faithful to her oath, loyal and had a deep sense of duty: this is how her colleagues and all those who knew her will remember her,‘ the police added in a statement, noting that Shygyda had joined the police force in 2020 at the age of 22. ’Becoming a police officer was her dream and her calling. Her father, a firefighter, taught her to help others from an early age. And her husband, also a patrol officer, always supported and helped her in her service," the statement continued. Her son was only one year old. His name has not been released, and a photo of the child shared on social media shows him with his back to the camera, held tightly by his mother and wrapped in a jacket with a wool winter hat.
