Milan, June 3 (LaPresse) – “Deadly attacks on desperate civilians trying to access the meager amounts of food aid in Gaza are unacceptable. For the third consecutive day, several people have been killed near an aid distribution center managed by the 'Gaza Humanitarian Foundation',” said UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk. “Attacks against civilians constitute a grave violation of international law and a war crime.” His statement came after the Israeli army opened fire this morning on individuals heading toward a humanitarian aid distribution center in Rafah, in southern Gaza. “It is essential that each of these attacks be promptly and impartially investigated and that those responsible be held accountable,” Türk added. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) admitted to opening fire this morning, stating they fired "near several suspects" who had left the designated route, approached their forces, and ignored warning shots.
