Rome, 28 May (LaPresse) – "What is happening in Gaza is causing immense pain. The people of the Strip have been paying a very high price for too long. As Pope Leo XIV pointed out, children, the elderly and the sick are paying a particularly high price. These innocent deaths hurt our values and outrage our consciences. The Israeli government's legitimate reaction to a terrible and senseless terrorist act is unfortunately taking on absolutely dramatic and unacceptable forms." This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani during a briefing to the Chamber of Deputies. ‘The bombings must stop, humanitarian assistance must resume as soon as possible, and respect for international humanitarian law must be restored,’ added the head of the Foreign Ministry, who specified: ‘Those who say that the government is ignoring the situation in Gaza are offending the truth.’
