Milan, 26 May (LaPresse) – President Donald Trump says the United States will delay the application of a 50% tariff on goods from the European Union from 1 June to 9 July to gain time for negotiations with the bloc. The agreement came after a phone call on Sunday with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Trump said that the president told him she ‘wants to start serious negotiations.’ Trump then told reporters on Sunday that he had told ‘anyone who wanted to listen, that they have to do it.’ He added that Von der Leyen had committed to ‘getting together quickly and seeing if we can find a solution.’
