Austin (Texas, USA), 25 May (LaPresse/AP) – All public school classrooms in Texas may have to display the Ten Commandments under a Republican proposal that passed an important vote on Saturday, making the state the largest in the country to impose such a requirement. If approved as expected, the measure is likely to be challenged in court by critics who consider it a constitutional violation of the separation of church and state. The Republican-controlled House gave its preliminary approval, and a final vote is expected in the coming days. The bill would then go to Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who has already said he will sign it.
