Milan, 24 May (LaPresse/AP) – US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered further restrictions on press operations at the Pentagon. Announcing the decision on X shortly before a holiday weekend, Hegseth ordered that journalists be barred from large areas of the Pentagon unless they are escorted by the government. On Friday, Hegseth said it was necessary to protect classified information from disclosure. He was embarrassed by some press reports early in his tenure, including a leak that billionaire Elon Musk was to receive a briefing on military plans in China. Hegseth also revealed military plans in Yemen in a chat on a messaging app that inadvertently included a journalist from The Atlantic.
