Athens (Greece), 22 May (LaPresse) – An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale shook the southern islands of Greece in the early hours of today. The epicentre was located at sea, 58 kilometres north-northeast of Elounda, on the northern coast of Crete. According to the US Geological Survey, the quake originated at a depth of 69 kilometres. There are no reports of casualties or damage, and local media emphasise that the depth of the epicentre is positive. The quake was also felt in the capital Athens.
