So wrote European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on social media, as she attended the inaugural Mass of the new Pope.
“This is a message that deeply resonates around the world, and especially on our continent,” von der Leyen added. “In Europe, we know all too well that peace cannot be taken for granted. It must be built, nurtured, and carefully protected. As Pope Leo XIV begins his ministry, we walk alongside him in his vision: peace as a miracle that we are all called to shape.”
