Milan, May 15 (LaPresse) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has removed General Oleg Salyukov from his role as commander-in-chief of the ground forces. This was reported by Russian news agency Ria Novosti, citing a decree that also appoints Salyukov as deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council.
The decree reads: "Appointment of Oleg Leonidovich Salyukov as deputy secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, relieving him of his current position," as cited by Ria. Salyukov had been commander-in-chief of the ground forces since 2014 and had led the Victory Day parades in Red Square, including this year’s event on May 9.
