Doha (Qatar), 14 May (LaPresse/AP) – US President Donald Trump has stated that he does not believe Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to Turkey for ceasefire talks with Ukraine unless he goes too. ‘I don't know if he would be there if I wasn't there,’ Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One while flying from Saudi Arabia to Qatar. The US president stressed that his schedule for Thursday is “completely full” with a state visit to Qatar, which will include a meeting with US troops in the region. Trump did not categorically rule out travelling to Turkey, but said he intends to send Secretary of State Marco Rubio in his place. Trump also said that in a few days he will know whether Putin is just playing for time on his willingness to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. When asked if he believes Putin is just ‘playing games’ with him, as he suggested earlier this month, Trump replied, ‘I'll tell you in a few days.’
