Srinagar (India), 9 May (LaPresse/AP) – Tension continues to rise between India and Pakistan. Indian and Pakistani soldiers exchanged heavy gunfire along the Kashmir border during the night. At least five people, all civilians, were killed in the clashes, while the military standoff that erupted following the attack on tourists on 22 April in the Indian-controlled part of the disputed region continues. In Pakistan, the night of gunfire left at least four civilians dead and 12 others wounded in areas near the Line of Control dividing Kashmir, local police official Adeel Ahmad said. Residents of border towns reported that the clashes continued until Friday morning.
