Milan, May 8 (LaPresse) – “Despite the announced ceasefire, Ukrainian armed forces have not stopped combat operations against Russian troops. They attempted two breaches of the Russian Federation’s state border in the Kursk region, as well as an attack near the settlement of Dzerzhinsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the Russian Ministry of Defense stated, according to Russian news agency Interfax. The ministry added that Ukrainian troops violated the ceasefire nearly 500 times. The 72-hour truce was unilaterally declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin in conjunction with the celebrations in Moscow for the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in World War II. In March, the United States proposed a 30-day truce in the war, which Ukraine accepted, but the Kremlin continues to demand ceasefire terms more aligned with its conditions.
