Rome, May 8 (LaPresse) – U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking from the Oval Office, said he was “excited” to announce a trade agreement with the United Kingdom, calling it one of America's "dearest allies." British Prime Minister Keir Starmer joined the announcement via video link from the UK. Trump stated that the US-UK trade agreement reflects the “reciprocity and fairness” he considers essential for international trade. He added that the deal would cover “billions of dollars in American exports, including U.S. beef and various agricultural products.” Furthermore, Trump said, “customs procedures for American goods will be streamlined so that our exports are approved very quickly, with no bureaucratic delays.” He noted that the final details of the agreement will be written in the coming weeks, but said the deal can already be considered “done.” Starmer described the trade deal with the United States as “a fantastic and historic day” and “a true tribute to the long-standing partnership that unites us.”
