Rome, May 7 (LaPresse) – U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Russia is "asking too much" to bring the war with Ukraine to an end. Speaking at the Munich Leaders Meeting in Washington, as reported by Politico, Vance said the United States is focused on a long-term solution, as Russia rejected a U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire. Moscow claimed that such a temporary pause is not in its strategic interest, as it would allow Ukraine to regroup. Vance emphasized that Russia will likely have to make concessions. “The Russians are demanding a series of requirements and concessions to end the conflict. We believe they are asking too much,” he said, adding that the next step is to persuade Ukraine and Russia to engage in direct dialogue. “We’d like to see the Russians and Ukrainians agree on some basic parameters to sit down and talk. That’s the next major step we hope to take,” Vance explained.
