Islamabad (Pakistan), May 7 (LaPresse/AP) – A total of 19 people were killed and 38 wounded in the rocket attack launched by India on Pakistani territory, according to local Pakistani authorities. Adding to the overall death toll of 19, including at least one child, is the fact that the number of dead in the raid on the Subhan mosque in Bahawalpur, Punjab, has risen to 13, as reported by a hospital doctor attending to the victims, Zohaib Ahmed. India claimed to have hit infrastructure used by militants linked to the 22 April massacre of tourists in Pahalgam, in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir; New Delhi accuses Pakistan of supporting the Pahalgam attack, which Islamabad denies. Pakistani army spokesman Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif reported that Indian missiles hit six locations in the Pakistan-administered area of Kashmir and the eastern province of Punjab. ‘Pakistan has every right to respond forcefully to this act of war imposed by India,’ said the Pakistani premier, Shehbaz Sharif, convening a meeting of the National Security Committee.
