Washington (USA), May 5 (LaPresse) – U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered Pentagon leadership to cut the number of four-star generals and admirals in the U.S. Armed Forces by at least 20%. This is according to a memorandum signed by Hegseth and reviewed by CNN. As of 2023, there were 37 four-star generals and admirals across all U.S. military branches. The memorandum also includes a directive to reduce the number of National Guard generals by 20%.
