Rome, 6 May (LaPresse) – In a statement, Oman said it had conducted ‘recent discussions and contacts’ with the United States and the ‘relevant authorities’ in Houthi-controlled Yemen, efforts that ‘have led to a ceasefire agreement between the two sides’. This was reported by Al Jazeera. ‘In the future, neither side will target the other, including American ships, in the Red Sea and the Strait of Bab al-Mandab,’ the statement said, ‘ensuring freedom of navigation and the regular flow of international commercial traffic.’ The head of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee of the Yemeni Houthi rebels, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, said the group would verify the effective suspension of the American ‘aggression’ announced by Donald Trump. This was reported by Al Jazeera. Al-Houthi also assured that the group will continue to support the Gaza Strip and warned that the ceasefire with the United States does not include the cessation of the group's attacks against Israel.
